maintenance & care guide

THANK YOU FOR BEING OUR PERFECT MATCH
Welcome to our Perfect Match family! We're glad that you have chosen our extensions, and with the proper care and maintenance, they could last a year or several years. Follow these hair maintenance steps, along with using our recommended hair care products to extend the life of your extensions and maintain their luster and manageability.

how to care for your hair:

  • Keep the extensions clean by shampooing once a week, no more than two weeks, with warm water and sulfate-free shampoo. Shampooing too often can dry out the extensions.

  • Shampoo extensions immediately after swimming and excessive exercise. Chlorine or salt bonds in sweat can cause tangling.

  • Brush and tame the extensions using flexi rods, pin curls, or big braids when swimming, exercising, or preparing for bed. Use a silk or satin cap or scarf while sleeping to help retain the moisture in your extensions.

  • Never sleep on wet extensions. Make sure they are completely dry before going to bed.

  • Brush the extensions daily, starting from the ends and working your way up, to prevent snapping and tangling.

  • Combing the extensions before shampooing using a PM Loop Detangling brush is recommended to ensure they are tangle-free.

  • Excessive heat will lead to softening and possible shedding of the weft. Please avoid circular motions while shampooing to prevent excessive tangling.

  • Always use a moisturizing or hydrating sulfate shampoo followed by a lightweight conditioner.

  • When conditioning the hair, leave it on for approximately 3-5 minutes and then comb through the hair with a wide-tooth comb starting from the ends and moving up. Rinse thoroughly.

  • Gently squeeze and towel blot any excess water from extensions. Blow-dry gently to aid in drying time, sit under a hooded dryer on medium heat if installed, or hang and air dry if it’s not installed. Do not towel rub or twist to dry.

  • Avoid overusing products when styling your extensions. Improperly rinsed extensions or too much leave-in conditioner and other products will create buildup on the hair, causing it to be heavy, limp, or tangle. If you experience this, start the process over, but this time with a clarifying shampoo to remove the buildup.

  • Perfect Match extensions can be colored or permanently waved. We recommend that you use a professional colorist who has worked with virgin hair before to prolong the life of the extensions.

  • Your extensions can be shampooed, brushed, blown dry, curled, straightened, or styled any way you’d like.

  • For curly hair, brush the hair gently from the bottom to the top daily, and apply a leave-in conditioner as well as a daily moisturizer in sections to maintain tamed and soft curls that do not frizz. If you do not apply a leave-in curl conditioner, the hair will start to frizz, swell and become dry looking.

proper maintenance timeline for your hair and extensions:

We recommend keeping any sewn-in install no longer than 8 weeks to maintain the health of your natural hair and scalp. This is the time when you will be due for hair care maintenance and a proper scalp cleanse. Be sure to get a hydration treatment or protein treatment based on your licensed stylist recommendation for your hair care needs. Maintaining proper hair care is essential to your appearance!
